The special Peace Fund line (Phase VI) is intended to contribute to improving living conditions for the predominantly poor population in the east of the country and thus provide a visible peace dividend. Effectiveness and visibility therefore play an important role in the selection of the individual measures. The plan is to implement primarily labour-intensive economic and social infrastructure measures and activities in the agricultural sector to generate short-term income and revitalize local economic cycles. The overarching development policy objective of the project is to contribute to consolidating peace, combating poverty and achieving stabilization. The program is a continuation of the Peace Fund program launched in 2007 on the initiative of the BMZ (FCP, 2007 65 537 VPT and 2011 66 800). In this phase of the project, great importance is attached to integration into the international stabilization initiative of the United Nations (UN). In addition, the special line will primarily focus on the needs of the province of North Kivu (in particular the territory of Rutshuru), and then on the province of South Kivu (territory of Kalehe). A total of EUR 6.1 million is earmarked as an FC grant over an expected period of 24 months to finance the FCP special line.
