Peace Region Electricity Supply Project

Construction of two new transmission lines and expansion of a substation to help increase the transmission load capacity in Northeast BC and allow for the connection of natural gas processing facilities, which will otherwise use gas turbines to function, with fuel drawn from on-site tanks. Using electricity and allowing them to transition from natural gas to a clean renewable energy supply would avoid emissions and support federal and provincial greenhouse gas reduction objectives. Once fully subscribed, the project is expected to result in the avoidance of up to 2.6 million tonnes of GHG emissions per year.
