Description

Description

The CONVIVIR projects are being implemented in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. They finance investments in public spaces in communities and neighborhoods affected by violence. This approach to creating safe spaces is combined with the promotion of social and professional skills among young people. In addition, the actors involved are strengthened institutionally. Young people and residents are involved in the selection and construction of the infrastructure measures as well as in their administration and maintenance. The aim is for the safe spaces created to be used sustainably with the active social participation of young people. The measures contribute to reducing poverty and gender equality. The target group of the program are young people of both sexes between the ages of 14 and 25 who live in neighborhoods with high levels of violence and are therefore particularly affected by violence and crime. The borrower and recipient of the CONVIVIR project in Honduras is the Republic of Honduras, represented by the Ministry of Finance. The political sponsor of the project is the Youth Institute; The Fondo Hondureño de Inversión Social (SEDECOAS-FHIS) is responsible for project management and administrative implementation. The total costs amount to around EUR 7.2 million, which includes contributions from the participating population at district level and the municipalities of EUR 0.3 million each, as well as the Honduran central government of EUR 0.6 million. The FC funds amount to EUR 6 million, which are provided as FC loans.
