Pebble Mining Project

planned

The Pebble project is a proposed large-scale copper and gold mining development in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. The project extends into multiple salmon-bearing watersheds and is located upstream from Alaska's most lucrative salmon fishery. The project has faced regulatory halts and legal challenges due to environmental concerns, particularly regarding its impact on salmon habitats. The developer is currently engaged in litigation to overturn a federal decision that halted the project, and continues to invest in legal and administrative efforts to advance the project.
