Description | The project aims to counter antigypsyist hate speech online by working with young people, using a combination of peer education and monitoring. 1. To raise awareness of young people in five countries of the adverse impact of hate speech on Roma and of the importance to report antigypsyist online hate speech. 2. To train young Roma as peer educators and to empower them to monitor and report hate speech online 3. To advocate for anti-discrimination policies that take into account the online sphere as well as antigypsyism as a bias motivation. 4. To raise awareness of other stakeholders of antigypsyist hate speech in online media Activities - Training course for 25 young Roma peer educators - At least 75 local peer education activities to raise awareness of the negative impact of antigypsyist hate speech and to support young people in recognising and reporting it. - Monitoring of online media, resulting in 5 national datasets of at least 150 cases, and reporting of at least 50 cases per partner country. - 5 national monitoring reports and 1 synthesis report - Advocacy activities on national and EU level - Social media campaign and other communication activities - Development of practical toolkit on countering online hate speech Results - Higher number of reported cases of hate speech and content taken down - 5 national datasets of at least 150 cases of online hate speech - Increased awareness of the negative impact of antigypsyist hate speech among young people - Increased self-confidence and skills of peer educators - Increased knowledge about recognising and reporting antigypsyist hate speech among target groups - improved self-regulation guidelines and policies countering hate speech - Better data collection disaggregated by ethnicity and gender to allow analysis of trends by member states. - Stronger condemnation of antigypsyist hate speech in public discourse. - More positive narratives promoted by young people online to counter antigypsyist hate speech. |
