Description | Pelagos Data Centres has initiated construction on a new 250MW data centre in Gibraltar, which is expected to be the largest development project in Gibraltar by value. The project aims to position Gibraltar as a strategic hub for AI-driven innovation and Europe's digital infrastructure, serving both the UK and continental Europe. The first phase is expected to be operational by late 2027, with subsequent phases following at 18-month intervals. The project will create up to 500 construction jobs and approximately 100 permanent positions once operational. The facility is designed to Tier III standards, carrier-neutral, energy efficient with a Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.2 or lower, and aims for net-zero operational emissions by 2030 using renewable energy and liquefied natural gas. |
