Pell Bridge Ramp Realignment Property Acquisition

planned

The city of Newport is considering purchasing roughly 25 acres of state-controlled land freed up by the Pell Bridge ramp realignment project. The land has environmental challenges and is valued between $5 to $7 million. The city council and an advisory commission are discussing options for acquisition and future development, including housing, retail, office space, and public parks. The city plans to commission its own appraisal to negotiate the purchase price and may create a public entity to manage the property.
