Description | The district administration of Nagpur has started releasing water from the Pench project into canals and natural streams to address drinking water shortages caused by extreme heat and depletion of rural water sources. Water is being released through the Right Bank Canal (RBC) of the Pench project in a regulated manner to ensure equitable distribution. The release began on Sunday and water is reaching nullahs connected to the canal network. Water was also released from the Sur River system in the past 8 to 15 days to support scarcity-hit areas. The overall storage in the Pench system remains comfortable with combined live storage at around 56%. |
