The Pendlerbroen project aims to encourage young people to live and work in their respective regions. Through digital and physical commuting for both work and education, the regions hope to become more attractive. Commuting is common, it is less common to commute as a student. This is what the Pendler Bridge project wants to change, thereby increasing employment and attractiveness in Kattegat and the Skagerrak region. We in the various regions face similar challenges because we are all in peripheral areas. That is why we need to work together on our future workforce. We see an advantage in that our future workforce can work across borders, and in this way develop the entire area," says Charlotte Heigaard Jensen, Project Manager for Pendlerbroen and Development Consultant at Professionshøjskolann University College Nordjylland. Focus on digital work: Together, the project partners will identify the needs of the various municipalities, and then collaborate with University West and University College Nordjylland, who will develop and adapt their education to the identified needs. To strengthen the municipalities, the project is also working to increase both the digital and physical commuting of students. We have problems with our young people moving away from our regions when they are finished with their education. In this way, they can stay and we hope that we can attract our workforce so that not everyone moves to larger cities," says Charlotte Heigaard Jensen. Lars Busk Jørgensen, who participated in the pre-projects to Pendlerbroen, flew in. — We also see that the project will contribute to improving education and training and increasing the employment of skilled workers in the activities and municipalities involved in the project. Practice in another country: They will be strengthened through cross-border cooperation. An important part of the project is to develop teaching models that make it easy for students to practice in countries other than their country of study. Here, municipalities and industry will contribute to identifying the needs that exist. By implementing a commuter idea already during the course, it is hoped that the students will become accustomed to working in several Scandinavian languages. The project also means that the courses will be widened across borders by, for example, teachers teaching in several countries or that lessons can be carried out digitally and thus in both countries at the same time. We want to make our educations better and more relevant, while we see many opportunities to support each other in daily work,” says Lars Busk Jørgensen. Digital Work Bank: Another idea that the project is working on is to develop a bank supply and demand for digital skills that the participating municipalities and businesses can use. In this way, organisations can gain digital skills even when they are unable to hire a full-time position, but joint services can be created across borders.
