Pension Reform Technical Assistance Project

The objectives of the Pension Reform Technical Assistance Project (PERTAP) are to support: (a) the design of the pension policy reforms under the Borrower's Social Sector Adjustment Program, and the development of the necessary legislation to this effect; and (b) build capacity in the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MLSP) and the Pension Fund. The project components include: pension reform design to include the design of the pension reform program, the development of actuarial capacity for pension reform, the development of financing plan for the transition, and the design of a public information campaign; legislative framework to include the reform of legislation of the public pension program, the development of law for private pensions, and the development of support for the passage of legislation; and project management to establish a Project Coordination Unit (PCU) under the responsibility of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
