Description | Perla Mini Hydro Project was a 24 MW mini hydro plant located on the banks of Netravathi River near Perla-Shamboor, Bantwal Taluk of Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka. The project was developed on build operate and transfer (BOT) basis by AMR Power Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Greenko Energies Pvt. Ltd. Perla signed a 15 year PPA with Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (MESCOM), a distribution arm of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), a state government owned power utility company. The project was registered under UNFCCC's Clean Development Mechanism. Total cost of setting up of the project was estimated at Rs. 971.7 millions (US$23.5 million). Construction started in 2008 and the project was expected to be commissioned in September 2009. |
