Description | The POWER program involves the transmission of wireless power using a laser beam. An 800-watt laser beam was successfully transmitted over a distance of 8.6 km in New Mexico to demonstrate wireless power supply capabilities for military personnel and operations. The system uses a ground-based laser system with a compact receiver equipped with a parabolic mirror directing the laser beam to photovoltaic cells that convert light into electrical energy. The project aims to develop vertical power transmission and integrate a repeater system, with future tests planned for laser systems on aircraft and drones transmitting up to 10 kW over distances up to 200 km. |
