Description

Description

Women, marriage, and family aren’t new topics in European literature, but the way these topics have been approached and treated in the last years by writers and readership has drastically changed. That is why we think that the project Perspectives on Women – Everlasting Rebellion (POWER) is quintessentially important in order to understand the time we live in. We have made a selection of 8 books written in the last 20 years in 8 different European languages in which women are treated in different ways depending on the perspective, approach and context: short story collections Verseim by Edina Szvoren, Een handige dromer by A. L. Snijders, novels Stalo sa by Etela Farkašová, Eléni í o Kanénas (Ελένη ή ο Kανένας) by Rhea Galanaki, Bezmatek by Mira Marcinów, Mon Cœur à l’étroit by Marie NDiaye, De Usynlige by Roy Jacobsen and Smrtni ishod atletskih povreda by Milica Vučković. Our mission is to successfully implement this project while respecting all phases of its implementation: translation, editing, proofreading, design, printing, and distribution, as well as book promotion, striving to follow every step as planned in the work packages, respecting deadlines and payments which we envisioned in the project. Our objectives are to present to Serbian readers quality European contemporary literature in its linguistic and cultural diversity, but also to present to Francophone readers one of the best contemporary Serbian author. Our priorities are to implement new and modern forms of book promotion, using primarily digital tools, as well as to implement new strategies for more widespread distribution and develop partnerships with other European publishers and distributors. The expected results are greater circulation of contemporary European literature in Serbia and contemporary Serbian literature in Francophone countries, creating new opportunities for authors, translators, cultural operators as well as strengthening the partnership between Serbian and French publishers.
