Description
Description | The Petroleum Industry Act (Amendment) Act 2025 is a proposed legislative amendment in Nigeria aimed at overhauling the regulatory and ownership structure of the petroleum sector. Key changes include the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) replacing the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as the concessionaire in all subsisting petroleum contracts, and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) becoming the sole shareholder of NNPC Limited, replacing the Ministry of Petroleum Incorporated (MOPI). The amendment also revises the governance and operational roles within the petroleum industry to address fiscal leakage and revenue loss. |
