Description | The project involves converting the former Pfizer Building at 235 East 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan from office use to residential use, including expanding the building by adding 10 stories above the collapsed columns and four more floors to the original 33-story tower. The project required installation of steel reinforcement plates along two key steel columns to support the additional residential floors. However, failure to install these reinforcements led to structural failure and column buckling on July 7, 2026, causing evacuation and emergency shoring work. |
