Description
Description | Stayner’s water system supplies water to 3,500 residents and 1,592 residential, commercial and industrial structures. Currently, there are no water mains or municipal water services on Locke Avenue. Locke Avenue residents use wells, and five provisional residential development plans have been approved in this area, which will require municipal service to implement. Without the capital expenditure to install new pipes and a water main, growth will be limited and the water supply will not be sufficient for the 2,400 additional units planned for this area. New 200 mm-diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) piping to be installed over a length of 80 metres (Scott Ave., from Campground to Locke Ave.). The piping will increase flow, facilitate fire protection activities and facilitate new development. The construction of the new pipelines will provide access to the drinking water main for existing residents who use wells, and will have a direct impact on the approximately 2,400 new residential units planned for the area, for which the provisional plan has been approved. This project will enable us to better ensure a safe drinking water supply and provide adequate water pressures for the growing community of Stayner in the future. Tentative development plans for 5,000 residential units were approved in Stayner in 2015, and this project will improve the network and strengthen water distribution capacity in these new developments (2,400 residential units). Water volume usage is expected to increase from 1,800 m3 per day in 2016 to 3,180 m3 per day in 2026 (76% increase). |
