The project involves the construction of the 140MW Phezukomoya wind farm located in the Umsombomvu Local Municipality, South Africa. The facility will comprise 26 wind turbines, with a height of 124m and a blade length of 83m. The sponsors - EDF Renewables and its local partners, H1 Holdings and Gibb-Crede, will sell power to Eskom under a 20-year PPA. EDF Renewables will also construct the Koruson Main Transmission Substation (MTS) on behalf of Eskom, under a self-build agreement (SBA), which will be transferred to Eskom upon completion. The total value of the wind farm is $173.71 million (ZAR3.0 billion), which will be financed with term debt, debt service reserve fund and VAT facilities provided by local lenders Momentum Metropolitan, Investec, Standard Bank and Absa Bank. Financial close was reached on November 10, 2022 and the wind farm is scheduled to be connected to the National Grid before November 2024.
