The PHI Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art experiences. The current premises of the PHI Foundation are too small for the organization to fully assume its mission. The project consists of the acquisition and restoration of four (4) buildings and the construction of a new adjacent building in Old Montreal. The costs associated with the acquisition of the land are not part of the eligible costs of the project. This new cultural infrastructure will be used as a contemporary art gallery and museum including an auditorium, multipurpose production spaces, a cafeteria and underground parking, etc. With regard to the four (4) buildings, the main works are: • Existing basement walls - Insulation, repair and membrane • Reinforcement and new floors - existing buildings • Construction and repair of roofs of existing buildings • Window restoration • Repairs to roofs of existing buildings • Restoration and new partitions including insulation in existing buildings • Restoration and new floors in existing buildings Concerning the construction of the new building, the main works are: • Construction of foundations • Lower slab - new construction • Excavation of the basement • New basement walls • Sheet pile walls • Floor construction • New roofs • Glazing in new construction • New roofs including parapets, flashings, etc. • New partitions including insulation • Floor finishes in new construction • Basement floors in new construction An international architectural competition will be launched for the design of the infrastructure. Thus, this list of works could be modified according to the result of the competition. This project will allow the PHI Foundation to offer the population of the greater Montreal area a better quality cultural infrastructure.
