Photovoltaic Foundry: Increasing Manufacturing Innovation and Capabilities in the United States

This project will leverage the advanced cell and module prototyping facilities at Arizona State University to support U.S. companies that want to prove the viability of new photovoltaic technologies but don't have equipment that can fabricate them. The foundry will focus on post-passivated emitter rear contact silicon solar cell and module technologies, which are built to capture more light on the back surface of the cell and are expected to grow to dominate the manufacturing landscape. It will allow users to improve process steps and designs and work to reduce production costs.
