Description
Description | The project comprises the development, construction and operation of two greenfield potable water treatment plants: the Phu Binh water treatment plant, with a capacity of 15,000 m3/day in Phu Binh District, Thai Nguyen province, and the Thuy Nguyen water treatment plant, with a capacity of 10,000 m3 day in Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong province, both in Northern Vietnam. The sponspor is CA Water, a Vietnamese water infrastructure developer and operator company. Climate Fund Managers (CFM), a climate-centric blended finance investment manager, via its Climate Investor Two (CI2) fund, commits to invest $24 m in CA Water, to be allocated to the projects. CI2 is a blended finance facility focused on water, sanitation and oceans infrastructure in emerging markets, supported by the European Union and the Government of the Netherlands. CFM’s investment was first announced at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Phu Binh Project on 16 May 2024 and then officialized on July 18, 2024. The cost of Phu Binh WTP is planned to be $3.77m (VND 96bln) (announced May 16, 2024). The full cost of Thuy Nguyen had not been disclosed. The two plants together will deliver 25 million liters of clean drinking water a day to 150,000 people in the region. The plants, operating under a concession with local governments, will provide clean drinking water directly to households, and business clients. The two projects will create 200 jobs during the construction phase and close to 70 permanent jobs during operation. https://climatefundmanagers.com/2024/07/18/cfm-invests-in-ca-water-to-advance-clean-water-supply-in-vietnam/ ; https://en.thainguyen.gov.vn/for-investors/-/asset_publisher/C5kLAFKpcbtS/content/groundbreaking-ceremony-of-phu-binh-water-plant-project?inheritRedirect=false ; https://cawater.vn/en ; https://cawater.vn/en/cfm-dau-tu-vao-ca-water-nham-tang-cuong-nguon-cung-cap-nuoc-sach-tai-viet-nam ; https://www.waterjournal.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=76859 |
