Phuket Electric Tuk Tuk Conversion Pilot Project

Phuket is the pilot province for Thailand's first project to convert small passenger vehicles, specifically tuk tuks, from petrol to electric power. The project aims to reduce air pollution and lower energy expenses for operators. A prototype electric tuk tuk has been handed over to the Phuket Small Four-Wheeled Cooperative, which manages about 2,000 tuk tuks and minibuses. The initiative is expected to serve as a blueprint for cleaner and more cost-efficient public transport nationwide and may be expanded to other provinces such as Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and Songkhla.
