The Fifth Pakistan Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation Limited (PICIC) Project will support the PICIC in order to meet its foreign exchange credit obligations. PICIC provides financing for creation and expansion of private industrial enterprises, encourages domestic and foreign participations in industrial companies and assists in the creation of a capital market. It will provide help to improve East Pakistan inland water transport facilities, and the pressing needs of that province. The project will contribute to the economy of Pakistan via the PICIC's role as an effective allocator of scarce foreign exchange to sound industrial projects in the private sector. This project will make a significant contribution to the gross national product and will increase foreign exchange earnings and savings.
