Pickle Lake Road Reconstruction

The project will reconstruct and expand Pickle Lake Road in Pickle Lake, Ontario. The work will involve reconstructing, regrading and widening 10.75 kilometres (km) of existing road, and expanding it by 1.3 km to connect to Highway 599. Ditching and other drainage improvements will also be undertaken, and include the installation of seven culverts. The project will improve road safety and reliability, support better traffic flow, divert truck traffic destined for the airport from passing through a school zone and the downtown core, and provide a secondary access point to the community for emergency response and evacuations. Lifecycle costs will decrease, asset failure will be prevented, and the wider, paved shoulders will provide safer travel for cyclists and pedestrians.
