Description | The Pigeon River Energy Center is a proposed solar project by NextEra Energy in Waupaca County, Wisconsin. It will feature 175 megawatts of solar generation and a 175-megawatt battery energy storage system, capable of powering roughly 35,000 homes. The project will use 658 acres of land out of 2,200 acres signed, with unused land returned to original owners. The project is expected to cost approximately $581 million, fully funded by NextEra Energy. The company plans to submit a permit application to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in summer 2026, with construction expected to start in 2028 if approved. |
