Pilbara Green Energy Grid Acceleration

Australian mining giant Fortescue has announced plans to speed up the delivery of its Pilbara green energy grid to minimize reliance on fossil fuels and mitigate the impact of volatile fossil fuel pricing. The project aims to eliminate diesel use, which is 100% imported and subject to price volatility. By early next year, 290MW of renewable capacity will be installed to support daytime green processing, and by the end of next year, the system will power all operations 24/7 without fossil fuels, including 1.2GW solar, 600MW wind, and 4-5GWh battery storage. The project supports an entire mining ecosystem and approximately 10,000 personnel.
