Description
Description | Fortescue Metals Group is building a 2.3 gigawatt private renewable energy grid in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, supported by 620 kilometres of high-voltage transmission lines and 2.4 million solar panels to decarbonise mining operations by 2030. The project is expected to have surplus power which could be sold to data centres, with the region being considered as a potential hub for data centres due to its abundant renewable energy resources and connectivity via a sub-sea internet cable to South-East Asia. |
