Description | The project involves the construction and operation of the 34.5 KM Pink Line of the mass rapid transit (MRT) system between Min Buri district (Bangkok) and Khae Rai (Nonthaburi province). It will connect with existing MRT lines such as Purple and Green Lines, and new MRT lines such as Red and Orange Lines. The project includes also 30 stations, 1 depot and stabling yard, 1 one park & ride building. The Pink Line project runs alongside the Yellow Line project. The project SPV is Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM). The sponsors are BTS Group Holdings Plc (75%), Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc (10%) and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Plc (15%). The SPV submitted the most competitive offer and was selected as the preferred bidder in December 2016. The 33-year concession agreements with Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) were signed in June 2017. NBM will have the rights to operate the line, and receive farebox revenues, commercial development fees, and parking fees. Commercial operations are expected to commence in 2021. The project cost is around THB 53.5 billion ($ 1.7 billion). Asian Development Bank (ADB) committed THB 4.95 billion or $ 157.36 million loan. Other banks included in the project are Bankgkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank and Siam Commercial Bank. The government will provide THB 22.5 billion or $ 715.26 million subsidies during the first 10 years of the operation in equal instalments.
