Description | The PIONEER project, funded by the EU's Horizon Europe program, developed an open and interoperable digital pipeline for advanced manufacturing, focusing on the application of MX3D's Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology to produce load-bearing hybrid steel structures for the civil engineering industry. The project demonstrated the viability of using WAAM to enhance traditional steel parts' performance with minimal material increase, including producing hybrid joints and reinforcing steel beams, culminating in a 10-meter load-bearing truss assembled from 3D printed nodes. |
