PIONIER-Q Polish Quantum Communication Infrastructure

PIONIER-Q project proposal addresses EuroQCI initiative and outlines the plans and activities for Polish Quantum Communication Infrastructure community and its related activities. The proposal is prepared by the Consortium led by Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC). PSNC is the owner and operator of Polish Research and Academic Network – PIONIER, community that connects wide range of different users and applications. It focuses on research networking, digital technologies for academic community, services for citizens and public administration. The PIONIER-Q proposal addresses National QCI call and outlines the proposed solution, topology, involved partners, use cases and evolution prospects. The core assumption of the proposal is to focus on existing and future users and application community that will introduce number of use cases that help to implement and further develop the QCI. The proposal addresses aspect of further QCI technology development and integration with existing optical and data transmission technologies. One of the main points of the proposal are dissemination, exploitation and training activities that will focus on education aspects. Proposal will be linked to a number of national and international activities related to quantum communication, quantum cryptography and quantum computing. PIONIER-Q coordinated its ideas and activities with other QCI leaders that prepare QCI response in respective Member States. PIONIER-Q presented IV phases of QCI development that are reaching beyond the QCI call and taking opportunity from synergy between different projects. PIONIER-Q has been authorized by the Polish authorities, i.e. the Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science, to submit an application in the DIGITAL-2021-QCI-01-NATIONAL-DEPLOY call and received confirmation of the financial contribution to the project in the total amount of EUR 5,000,000.
