In March 2010, CAB Ambiental [Brazil, 100%] was awarded the 30-year municipal concession contract to expand, rehabilitate and operate the water and sewerage system of the city of Piquete (state of Sao Paulo). The company committed to invest BRL 6 million to expand the water and sewerage system, including sewereage treatment, for 100% of the population by 2015. At the time of contract signing, the coverage ratio for water provision was 100%, for sewerage collection it was 96% and for sewerage treatment it was 0%. The city population was estimated at 14 thousand inhabitants. The company signed the concession contract on March 26, 2010. CAB began operating the facilities in April 2010. In January 2012, a US$ 3 million (BRL 5.8 million) loan was granted to CAB Piquete by the state-owned bank BNDES to finance the company's investment.
