The Loan Administration Report for Brazil provides two loans that all serve the execution of an eight year program of the Borrower to increase its power-generating capacity and to improve its telephone services in the State of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and the Federal District. The projects, once completed, will give a measure of relief to the acute power shortage of this most densely populated and industrialized area of Brazil that has been severely handicapped in its activities during the past few years by the inadequacy of power and telephone services.
