Description
Description | The FC project envisages the rehabilitation of the Laaroussia transport canal in order to reduce seepage losses along the canal. Specific measures include the rehabilitation of the canal lining over a length of around 20 km, the repair of the crossing structure over the Medjerda and the canal bridges, the rehabilitation of culverts over a length of 7 km and, where necessary, the repair of the existing shut-off, control and remote control devices as well as the necessary maintenance routes along the canal. The rehabilitation measures for the canal will be limited to those activities that are a priority for the long-term unrestricted operation of the canal and a secure water supply. Since the canal is to be operated by a concessionaire (SECADENORD) after rehabilitation, in addition to the measures described above, the high number of "wild withdrawals" must also be stopped and replaced by a few regulated withdrawals. The overarching development policy objective of the FC project is to contribute to protecting the climate and the environment, in particular to protecting scarce water resources and to reducing health risks for the Tunisian population in the programme area. |
