"Climate emergencies cannot be addressed with the efforts of one country, and need to be tackled in the whole region. Specifically focusing on municipal waste management, land protection challenges and unplanned urbanization, and extreme weather events, ""Placemaking for Climate Mitigation"" will help bring a variety of stakeholders together. The aim of the project ""Placemaking for Climate Mitigation"" is to create a more environmentally conscious and engaged society in Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania. This will be achieved through several interconnected and cross-cutting objectives: ∙ O1. Building understanding of the environmental agenda: The project seeks to create an understanding of the environmental agenda among the public, civic organizations, and experts through organizing series of deliberations among the stakeholders. ∙ O2. Engaging communities: The project aims to gather opinions related to the environment and climate action from communities through placemaking activities. ∙ O3. Empowering cooperation for environmental actions: The project aims to build capacities in the public, civic, and expert sectors to cooperate effectively in environmental actions. ∙ O4. Fostering regional collaboration: The project also aims to create a Balkan understanding of the environmental agenda. The project is expected to give voice to the residents, show how their opinions can be integrated in the local decision-making, and support more environmentally oriented policies on the local level, while engaging expert and public stakeholders. The project will reinforce the regional identity by increasing mutual understanding between people from geographically proximate countries and will strengthen sense of belonging to Europe. "
