Description

Description

Founded in 2003 by Alexandre Mallet-Guy, Memento Distribution stands out today as one of the main French independent distributor, with approximately 8 feature films released per year, for an average of one and a half million spectators annually. The company's line-up includes more than a hundred titles, both French and foreign produc;ons, some of which are now universally recognized: A SEPARATION by Asghar Farhadi - Oscar and Cesar for Best Foreign Film, WINTER SLEEP by Nuri Bilge Ceylan - Palme d'Or, IDA by Pawel Pawlikowski - Oscar for Best Foreign Film, TAXI by Jafar Panahi - Golden Bear, THE SALESMAN by Asghar Farhadi - Oscar for Best Foreign Film, Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival, BEATS PER MINUTE by Robin Campillo, Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Fes;val, THE NILE HILTON INCIDENT by Tarik Saleh – Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, EVERYBODY KNOWS by Asghar Farhadi, THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD by Joachim Trier – Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival, A HERO by Asghar Farhadi – Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, or BOY FROM HEAVEN by Tarik Saleh - Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival. This scheme helps us financing P&A expenses for European features that we plan on releasing in the coming months, allowing us to spend more on promotion and thus reaching out to a wider audience. The grant generated will also enable us to acquire rights for European Films through minimum guarantees that we would not pay without MEDIA’s Automatic support. Following the covid crisis, theater’s admissions have plummeted (30% drop approximately for indie movies), making it riskier for us to invest in new films, and making P&A expenses even more decisive to gather spectators. To these extents, MEDIA ‘s support is more crucial than ever.
