Plant Yates Natural Gas Turbine Expansion

Georgia Power has received delivery of the first of three new state-of-the-art simple cycle gas combustion turbines at Plant Yates in Coweta County, Georgia. These new Mitsubishi Power M501JAC combustion turbines will provide 1,300 MW of generation capacity when all units are in service. The project involves expanding the existing Plant Yates facility, which has been operational since 1950, to support growing energy demand in Georgia. The expansion will create approximately 600 construction jobs and 15 permanent jobs, increasing the plant workforce to 75 full-time employees.
