Description | The project involves upgrading the existing lagoon to ensure compliance with current regulatory standards. The proposed improvements are designed to enhance the lagoon’s performance and environmental impact, while also supporting future growth in the region. Key upgrades include: - Desludging and proper disposal of accumulated sludge from the lagoon bed. - Installation of a baffle curtain to improve flow management. - Addition of a surface aerator, complete with electrical service, to enhance water treatment. - Upgrades to the effluent manhole, including a new access hatch, sampling port, and thorough cleaning. - Construction of a new access road from Everett Lane to improve site accessibility. - Maintenance of the lagoon road and enhancements to the surrounding berm for improved structural integrity. - Installation of new fencing around the lagoon to ensure safety and security. These upgrades will resolve existing compliance issues and deliver meaningful social benefits by improving conditions for local residents. According to the feasibility study, the improvements will also support additional development in the area. Moreover, the enhanced quality of effluent discharged from the Village will contribute to better water quality in the Tobique River, offering significant environmental advantages. |
