Description | The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated a pilot project to use plastic mixed bitumen for road repairs in Salt Lake, starting from the Salt Lake CA block in BMC ward 39. This is the first time plastic mixed bituminous material is being used for road repair in the BMC area of Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur. The project involves mixing crushed plastic waste with bitumen to enhance road durability and resistance to wear and tear, especially against heavy rains. Over 7,000 square meters of road have been relaid with this material, which comes with a five-year guarantee. If successful, the method will be expanded to more road stretches across Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur. |
