Platreef is a mechanised underground mining operation targeting platinum, palladium, rhodium, nickel, gold and copper mineralisation in the Flatreef deposit. The project is being developed in phases, with Phase 1 comprising a 770,000 t/y concentrator that produced its first concentrate in November 2025. Phase 2 involves a new 3.3-million-tonne-a-year concentrator module to increase total processing capacity to 4.1 million tonnes a year, expected to be completed in Q4 2027. Phase 3 envisages two additional concentrator modules increasing capacity to 10.7 million tonnes a year, with full ramp-up producing over one million ounces of 3PE+Au annually.
