Description | Objectives: - Contrast hate speech online, enhancing video games and gamification as tools to reinforce positive behaviors in teenagers. - Promote awareness and comprehension of xenophobic and racist online hate speech, through the creation of new pedagogical tools and the exploitation of video games, for teachers and youth workers, that consolidate empathy and critical thinking, - Creation of new and creative online counter narratives in form of gaming activities Activities: 1. Creation of new pedagogical itineraries based on existing videogames; 2. Study of the phenomenon hate speech online in young video gamers communities; 3. Organization of a European-level hackathon for the creation of 4 new game proposals; 4. Implementation of an online platform and the organization of the new format “urban games” and dissemination events. Type and number of persons benefiting from the project: 600 Young people 250 teachers, educators, youth workers 150 independent game developers, small/medium video game enterprises, video game developers associations 35000 general public Expected results: - Empowerment of civil society organizations and schools in countering hate speech online with new pedagogical itineraries for teachers and youth workers, based of video game culture - Increased awareness of youngsters and general public on online hate speech, boosting public perception of the issue. - Strengthened cooperation between schools, youth institutions and video game industry in countering hate speech online Type and number of outputs to be produced: 15 pedagogical itineraries with training and educational materials ; 1 hackathon; 4 short video games; 1 research on online hate speech in video games; 1 multilingual online platform; 4 dissemination events in form of urban games; 1 manual urban games;2 seminars for teachers and educators; 1 European conference. |
