Description | The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) is a government scheme launched in February 2024 to install rooftop solar systems in one crore residential households in India by FY 2026–27. The scheme aims to provide zero electricity bills to households by promoting rooftop solar adoption, with a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore. As of December 9, 2025, around 19.46 lakh rooftop solar systems have been installed, benefiting over 24.35 lakh households. The scheme includes central financial assistance and collateral-free loans at 5.75% interest to improve economic viability. |
