The PM-WANI (Wi-Fi Access Network Interface) scheme is a public Wi-Fi network infrastructure project approved by the Indian government in December 2020. It aims to provide inexpensive, easily accessible, and portable internet throughout India, especially in areas with poor network coverage or high mobile data costs. The project encourages the establishment of public Wi-Fi hotspots by individuals or businesses registered as Public Data Officers (PDOs), facilitating free or paid internet access to the public and supporting the Digital India initiative.
