Description | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a project to identify and convert unused amenity spaces along metro lines 1, 2, and 3 into dedicated parking lots. The project aims to ease the growing parking crisis in busy areas by reducing roadside parking, easing congestion, and improving last-mile connectivity with the metro. The PMC has identified 100 such amenity spaces, with 31 locations finalized for conversion into parking lots near metro stations, including four specific spaces along metro line 3 in Baner and Balewadi. The proposal has been forwarded for approval, and the PMC controls nearly 150 hectares of amenity land within city limits, much of which is currently idle, misused, or encroached upon. |
