Description | In June of 1997, PNG Water Limited was awarded a 22-year concession contract to refurbish and expand the Bomana pumping station. The project was to increase the volume of treated safe water available for the National Capital District and the surrounding communities from about 145,000 cubic meters per day to 270,000 cubic meteres per day. The treated raw water was to be sold to EDA RANU, the public water company. PNG Water was also to upgrade and replace the main supply system and refurbish and expand the city's water reservoirs and associated works. PNG Water Ltd was the project company in which the partners were Malaysian firms Brem Maju Berhad and George Malaysia Berhad along with the PNG Public Officers' Superannuation Fund board. The total cost of the project was 160 million PNG kina (US$71 million). None None |
