Treci Trg’s Poetry Remedy project responds to global uncertainty and individual alienation by harnessing poetry’s power to enhance emotional awareness, mindfulness, and self-worth. Poetry offers a pathway to understanding personal and collective experiences, making them a valuable tool for mental well-being. As a dedicated publisher of contemporary poetry, Treci Trg has released over 200 poetry collections so far and this project continues its mission of fostering various poetic voices, especially those written in lesser-used European languages. Poetry Remedy will include translation, publishing, distribution and promotion of eight poetry books from Spain, Norway, Malta, Poland, Sweden, Cyprus, Serbia, and Ukraine. A special focus is given to Ukrainian refugees, with the translation of Miloš Crnjanski’s Lament nad Beogradom into Ukrainian and a poetry collection by Andriy Lyubka published for Ukrainian readers in Serbia. The project promotes literary diversity, supporting high-quality poetry translation as an artistic endeavor. It highlights the role of translators, emphasizing their expertise in preserving style, rhythm, and linguistic nuances. Eight distinguished translators (four male, four female) have been carefully selected to ensure excellence. The project envisions various promotional avenues, including workshops for students of foreign languages, young people, senior persons and visually impaired people and panels on interconnectedness of poetry and well-being and poetry’s therapeutic impact with mental health professionals. E-books and audio books will also be published as an effort on making Serbian literary market more inclusive. By promoting high-quality poetry, fostering collaboration, and advocating for literary and mental well-being, Poetry Remedy reaffirms poetry’s place in cultural and personal healing.
