Description
Description | The Points of Love Around You (PLAY) Project harnesses the power of playwriting to address pressing global and personal challenges, fostering love, compassion and understanding through reading of plays and open discussions. By exploring themes such as ecology, identity, emotional well-being, and visions of the future, the project creates a space for young people to reflect on societal issues, personal struggles, and increasing alienation of modern life. PLAY focuses on translating, publishing, distributing, and promoting 11 contemporary European plays across 7 books, making modern European theatre more accessible to Serbian readership. The project also builds a bridge between young readers and theatrical texts through drama workshops, which use fairy tales and futuristic narratives as starting points for discussion. Character play in these workshops provides a safe space for participants to explore sensitive topics, including ecological issues and interpersonal problems. With over 15 years of experience in drama workshops, the project team understands the transformative potential of theatre, using dialogue as a tool for analytical thinking, self-reflection & healing. The project encompasses the Festival of European Drama (FED), which will include the theatre premiere of one play in the project, public readings of six others and multiple promotions with participation of the playwrights. All the books on the project will be published as e-books, thus following the green agenda and increasing accessibility to persons outside Serbia, while a selection of four plays will be produced and broadcasted as radio dramas, which will make them available to hearing impaired people. Through literature and performance, the project continues Silver Tree’s dedication to cultivating an endangered genre as drama, interactive means of promotion and publishing and promoting literature written in less-used languages, thus diversifying Serbian literary market and strengthening dialogue. |
