Description | The project involves the construction of Poland's longest high-speed rail tunnel as part of the central transportation project (CPK) in Łódź. The Retkinia launch chamber, more than 180 meters long and 23 meters deep, has been completed. The tunnel will be 14 meters in diameter and 4.6 kilometers long, allowing trains to travel up to 160 km/h. It includes five underground evacuation points, technical walkways, and advanced fire safety systems. The Warsaw-Łódź section is planned to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2026 and is expected to open in 2032. The wider 480 km Y line connecting Warsaw, the new CPK airport, Łódź, Wrocław, and Poznań is planned to be completed by 2035. |
