The FC project describes a continuation of Germany's commitment to combating the transmission of the polio virus in Pakistan. The FC measure aims to interrupt the transmission of the polio virus in Pakistan and thus at the same time contribute to the global eradication of poliomyelitis (polio). The FC measure consists of financing vaccines and their freight costs as well as the implementation of polio vaccination campaigns (financing of vaccination staff) as part of the National Emergency Plan for Pakistan (NEAP). This is being implemented with the support of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). The vaccination campaigns are intended to achieve continuous vaccination coverage among children under five years of age (target group), and in particular children who have not yet been reached by the vaccination measures, and to prevent new infections with polio. The entire population of Pakistan and that of the (neighbouring) countries into which polio could be imported from Pakistan will indirectly benefit from this.
