The EBRD is considering to provide loans of EUR 25 million each to BZ WBK Leasing and BZ WBK Finanse&Leasing (jointly BZ WBK Leasing Companies). The funds will enable the companies to further expand their lease portfolio to micro, small and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Poland, located predominantly outside large cities. The EBRD facility will increase the availability of external funds to the leasing industry at the time when inter-bank lending is restricted. In particular the facility will enable a further expansion of MSME leasing. BZ WBK leasing operations constitute the 6th largest leasing business in Poland. The companies focus on serving MSMEs in Poland. The companies are controlled by BZ WBK Bank, the 5th largest bank in Poland. The total leasing portfolio of the companies was approximately PLN 3 billion (EUR 0.7 billion) as of YE 2008. EUR 25 million senior loan for each of WBKL and WBKF&L. EUR 50 million. BZ WBK companies have implemented environmental requirements in the context of previous EBRD loans and have been providing annual reports to the Bank. These reports have been satisfactory to the Bank. The companies will be required to comply with PRs 2 and 9 adhere to the requirements of the Bank's Environmental and Social Exclusion and Referral Lists and provide the Bank with an annual report on environmental and social matters.
