Description | The consortium Ponte de Pedra Energetica SA. won a 35 years concession to build and operate the 180 MW Ponte de Pedra hydroelectric power plant in the Corrente River, in Sonora city at Mato Grosso do Sul state. The consortium’s members are the Brazilian group Inepar, the Italian group Impregilo and the Sweden group Skanska. The consortium offered the winning bid of US$ 223.4 million (R$ 438.7 million) in the Aneel’s (Brazilian energy regulatory agency) auction, which will be paid in annual installments until the end of the concession period. The concession contract was award by Aneel in January of 2001. The construction of Ponte de Pedra power plant was initiated in march of 2001 and it is expected to be concluded in the beginning of 2004. The consortium announced that it expects to invest US$ 158 million in the project. The main client of the company will be Companhia Eletrica do Mato Grosso do Sul (Cemat), which supply energy for several companies and residents of the region. In December 2007, Tractebel Energia S.A (SUEZ,)through its subsidiary Energia America do Sul Ltd, purchased 100% of the shares of the Ponte de Pedra Plant for US $335 million. None None |
