Description | The state government has granted in-principle approval for the extension of Chennai Metro Rail Phase-II Corridor 4 from Poonamallee to Parandur. The project will be executed in two phases: Phase I from Poonamallee to Sunguvarchatram (27.9 km) and Phase II from Sunguvarchatram to Parandur, spanning a total distance of 52.94 km. The first phase is estimated to cost Rs 8,779 crore and will have 14 elevated stations. The entire project, estimated at Rs 15,906 crore, aims to enhance connectivity to the proposed Greenfield Airport at Parandur and the intercity bus terminal at Kuthambakkam. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) prepared by M/s Aarvee Associates Engineers and Consultants and submitted by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has been approved and forwarded to the Government of India for approval and funding. |
